up & down the shores, where every little way dashed down a
torrent of white water. Then Mr. W.
went back up the shore with us - & just in the cove
between us & the
Hubbard cottage I think we crossed 4 or 5 streams - besides
the one that stopped us & another we saw beyond. It was fine.
The pure sweet wet air & the clean wet slate & roses &
berries & branches & the beautiful foaming white little
cataracts - the one under the rustic bridge (the new one) was
particularly pretty & we crossed & [illegible] new
slate slide - 10 or 15 feet high. Mate
came in just as we were taking off our rubbers, to say that
Frank suggested going up to see
the fall in the glen. She went with us & Mrs
Marrin
came (nearly all the neighborhood during the morning) and we
went as far as we could - to the
