West doorway. We had a little good-bye talk - a trifle watery too. She said she would "be good" and write me lots and did want me to. She watched me way down to St Paul St. & then we waved goodbye & I skurried on. Got there before J.G. after all (9:30) and Gilmore remarked frequently during the day that I was "looking lonesome" which was true. Poor little Wm has a hard case of "cruel parent" too and perhaps he can't go to the Fair after all! To-night Claude and I went to Felix Morris's Opening night as a star. A brilliant audience & we had lovely seats - first row in the balcony. Mr & Mrs. Chas. Sunderlin were near us & below Mira Clarke, "Louis" Stein, Mr & Mrs [illegible] Curtis, Mr & Mrs Tom Brown,Mr & Mrs Stedman &c.&c.&c. loads we knew. I was dis- appointed in the performance & there were a few "first night"
