treated me to cocoa in the cool upstairs room and we went into the Marine Hospital(!) and through more of the Government Bldg & over thro' the Ills. State and California (which is very nice-shaped like an old mission & has most appetizing fruit & jellies in it) Also into Michigan & Washington - where there is a model farm (or ranch) and into the art - Belgium, End - where we had quite a long talk, till Charella went home (or rather, to Miss Atkinson's to meet Claude) And I took the Intramural from Mt. Vernon Station up to the South End - when I called on Kate Davis in her cute little house - & she showed me over and ex- plained all about it. Rode home with the Allen's. Had a late supper with Claude & then went out on the pier with him & Ed A. Then wrote letters & when I posted them saw Ed Allen & tho't was late we went out on the back piazza & sat quite awhile - talking. It sprinkled some. Ned, Will & Guy went to the theatre. I was invited but was too tired. June 10. Saturday Got up late. Breakfast N.Y. We all went to Chicago at 10:17 (Ned, Claude, Will & I) and left the train at Park Row.
