items of destruction - trees - every where - chimneys - wash outs - schooners sunk at the beach. The ferry ruined &c. &c. I also found a lovely 3 sheet letter from Mama Nourse. Bed at 12 or so. Aug. 30. Wednesday A magnificent clear cool day - If I'd only had such I'd have gotten the "group" & the cottage. We "swapped experiences" with Claude at breakfast and so on - admired the fixed over Secretary & table - and I walked down with Claude. Gilmore says he didn't get here yesterday till 10:45 - and the steamer came up especially for him then! Rather a busy day, but made me some World's Fair prints from JW's negatives. At noon I was visiting with the boys when Mama came & I walked up with her. Went up on the bridge & took a picture down the river on a doubtful plate. The river is very high & muddy. After dinner Mama took me - in the hammock.
