July 30 Sunday.
A bright, pleasant day. Gertrude
slept with me & we talked so late last night that I was sleepy
this morning. How- ever we went to church. Gertrude & I to the Central,
where we heard Chancellor Luis & saw John and Mae. Trude
had a little headache when we got home. I got a nice letter from
Jonesey. And yesterday me from
Alice Groulx (!) down on Long
Island. Sat in the hammock & on the piazza a good
deal of the afternoon and towards night Trudy and I strolled up to
Highland Park and sat & saw the
lovely Genesee Valley disappear in the sunset and when
strolled back to lunch. It was dark when we got home.
July 31. MondayKlem was back bright & early this
morning. She bought me a cute little Japanese vase - pitcher shape.
Warm - we were going to the Laketo-night but it poured.
Willie & I used J.G's extra umbrella and we spent the
evening talking, playing "word making" & "Anagrams."
Aug 1. Tuesday.Claude is 27 to-day. A lovely day.
Ned & Edith got home last night and
1893.
