Dec. 8th Friday.
Still cold & skating weather & good sleighing. Busy all day
& tired at night but went with Mama to the "Kaffir - Zulu" concert at the
Central Church. It was quite amusing. Some of
the women were quite good looking (there were 7 tribes) and one in
five looked like the Dahomie. The two little boys - with only one
garment on their little bodies were great favorites & took active
part. The most fun was between the acts when they old all sold books of songs! The English
"Manager" - an Oscar Wilde young man - made a speech
before every single song. He was quite unique. Claude went to the
Genesee Valley Club Ball tonight. I was invited too
"Reception at 3., Dancing at. 8." - very swell indeed!
Dec. 9 Saturday.
Warmer & rather slushy & by night it rained & skating
& most of the sleighing were gone. Shopped noon & night
(Xmas). Edithwas up to
bring me that old picture of Ned's
which she has finished and Mama
came & she & I went up town together. We bought Charella's presents (silver scissors &
1893.
