1893 Julia Robinson. After dinner read "Sweet Bells Out of Tune"

to Claude till Ned & Edith came - when we sat in the parlor by the register & giggled & "gassed" till lamp light - about N.Y. &c. &c. Ned is reading "The Tragic Muse"
and is going to lend me "Diana of the Crossways"
. She coaxed me to go to Mamma Nourse's with her & Edith rode to the corner with us & then went home. We found Mamma N. alone & lonesome - with a tale to tell us of the sudden death of Laura's
sister in Lawrence & her going yesterday morning - after a terrible night &c. &c. &c. & Lilla probably with her from Albany. Of course it upset all Ned's plans about N.Y. & we had a long talk & got enthuasiastic about Bohemian &c. &c. till the stage idea almost grew dim, so she said coming home that she tho't she'd go just the same & could tell in a month, easily enough, what she'd decide
