came up to the house. We talked awhile and then played Anagrams. She went home about nine & then Mama & I played with "Importance" (which is a very good word) and I beat. Awfully tired! Oct. 4 Wed. It poured to-day. I got a three sheet letter from my "angel" as she signs herself. I told Gilmore she said Fred Beach was going to take them down to Mott St. and she said Beach was 'most too much of a "light-weight" to go "Slumming" with! Had a lazy chat with him this p.m. By Edith's invitation, I went down there in the rain to dinner - this noon. Found her in the midst of sewing but happy. Had a nice dinner and a nice little visit. Papa & Mama went to prayer-meeting to-night & Claude & Charella & I wrote to N.E.D. Read the Napoleon article in Century (Diary of his trip to St. Helena) It is very interesting. As also is "Life" this week! Oct. 5 Thursday Pleasant again. Went up town - Lots of cute picture of Della Fox and DeWolf Hopper. Got a long letter from Frederica. This p.m. J.G. and I saw
