got a bath I walked to the 4 corners & then took a Lake car. Edith welcomed me with open arms. We talked and had supper and went to Church with Harry. Kirkpatrick preached a very so-so sermon to a large congregation. Edith kissed me on to the car. Oct. 9. Monday A gloriouly beautiful day. This afternoon I went with Mama to get things for her dress and bonnet. Went to "Panjandrum" in the even- ing. Walked down with Claude and met Edith at Dake's. We sat first row in balcony. The audience was very Enthusiastic. The opera was funny. DeWolf Hopper very funny and Della Fox as cute as ever. Her hair is so sweet. She has grown a little fat. In the First Act Hopper sings a real funny song just before he goes in to Kill the Bull (he's trying to be a toreador) and his actions (with Della) when the bull tosses him out are still funny. Edith quite fell in love with him (or said she didn't see how Della Fox could help it). In the second Act the Natives of Borneo & the little sailor roll in an immense hoghead labeled "Rum 1492" and are scared away by a tiger. The top of the cask comes off gradually & there are DeWolf & Della inside. The He in the awfullest looking tarpaulin jacket
