reception with him - at Power's Hall. It was very "swell" but I enjoyed myself sitting by Mrs. Allen all the evening & looking at her while she served sherbet and hearing her talk. She looked perfectly ravishing and I'm more in love with her than ever. She is the most beautiful woman I ever saw and her smile would melt an iceberg. She and Claude told funny stories and she introduced me to a lot of Society Column people but no one I cared especially to meet. Mrs. Bert Eastwood poured coffee at the other end of the table. She's beautiful too - in a way. She looks so sort of pathetic and melancholy - but I don't believe she is. Mrs. "Gussie" McDonald had the tea table which was lovely & more than I can say of her. She's a bride (nee Cooke) and "Gussie" calls her "De-ah" We strolled home about 10. Moonlight.
