1893.
Apr. 6. Thursday The ground was covered with snow this morning! but it melted off soon. Miss Rogers sick & not at the office. Ned came for me at 5 and we strolled up to the Lyceum & get tickets for "A Trip to Chinatown" tonight - and strolled back. Helen Davis passed but didn't see us. I couldn't fix the flowers to suit on my spring hat, so didn't wear it, but when the girls came - Ned, Mae , Edith & Freddy - they all protested their dis- appointment but - F. Ned brought me a bunch of violets & some went over & sat in a row in "E." Balcony. Ned, Mae, May, Edith, Freddy (hats) - it was certainly a "musical trifle" and a "Farce Comedy" - and almost painfully funny. They sang "Reuben Reuben, I've been thinking" and "The Bowery" and some little girls danced very nicely & took off Lottie Collins in "Ta-ra-ra-boom-de-ay" &c. &c. But there was too much of it for me.
