1893. March 15 Wed. Such discouraging weather! A reg- ular blizzard! Mama came down at noon & we ordered the new sitting room carpet - bought her a blue cravanette &c. &c. & had a nice little lunch at Sibley's & then she went home happy. About quarter of two Will O. & Gordon took me over to Hayden's to see the Kingsford

exhibit cases & which Claude designed - and they are fine - the nicest work Hayden is doing for the fair, by far. The little "Finisher" showed us around. Saw Ned in the car coming back. I came home at night after a walk with Klem (& a rose she gave me) and sewed a little & read. March 16. Thurs. A little pleasanter. Gilmore thinks he'll go to N.Y. this spring! We wrote Beach to meet us! Our kitchen was painted, so after a walk up town (met F. - and I guess - Miss Hess!) I went down to the 2nd U. church social to sup- per. Had snatched chats with Edith & Frederica "between times"
