He told me he thought "Helen was a
queer girl". I had a nap & a bath before the 7:07 train - which
Will took,
too, to
Hyde Park - where he left for
Rochester
at 8:40. I came into the
Park & as there
was plenty of time, went into the Pa. R.R. exhibit. Saw the John
Bull
train - the first run - in 1831 & then got a chair & waited
till Claude
came & we went up into the balcony of Machinery
Hall & watched the illuminations & lagoons [illegible] them & heard the music. Before we came
home we went thro' the Electrical - saw the search lights
& the Horticultural dance &c. Had to wait so long for
a train & it was so crowded, I was completely done up when I got
home - most too useless to move. Took some medicine & did get to sleep. Ned was real late.
June 14. Wednesday
Lovely morning and feel better. Claude,
Ned
and I took the electric over at 9, & came in the new gate &
had breakfast up on the third floor of the Casino, facing the
long pier. Some steamers came up while we were eating. We went into
the Indian School
and saw the boys at work at carpentry.
