and riding & driving & jumping - dogs, ponies & elephant in procession & drill. & the Happy Family of dogs, bears, leopards, lions, tigers, lionesses, &c. all performing with each other and sitting around on stools &c. real cute & tame - but the lions rather cross - on the whole a most thrilling performance. We saw the cages afterwards - and they animals were very nice. I suppose someone will be chewed up sooner or later. Had lunch at the Vienna Bakery - in front of a big window & where we could see all the people passing. Looked in at the Javanese village and the South Sea Islanders - but neither was open. Strolled back thro' the Transportation Bldg. where I went up in the Steamer - & saw Mr. Gillis & talked to him - and the mining & then sat down by the fountain & listened to the music. Dr. & Mrs. Millard were there too - & talked to us. Took Claude into the Machinery bldg. & showed him the boilers &c. & we walked thro' the Colonade home. Got there at 6:30 & had some tea with Ned & Will - couldn't eat anything else.
