Strolled down one of the grassy walks - behind the knoll &
finished my story, sitting on the grass in the sun. Nobody was in
sight and only me Papa & Baby ap-
peared. The sky was liquid blue, right against the top of the
hill. Nature intoxicates me and it did to-day. I found my way home
down thro' the "Lover's Lane" road-back of the
Highland Park and across past the
county buildings to Mt. Hope Avenue. Picked a
lovely big boquet of soft purple wild crysanthemums & fadey
golden- rod - which was evidently much admired by the populace
going home and which I later sent to Charella by Claude.
Found a box from Mr. Hodges. ("Compliments of
E.P. Hodges") which contained a little Chinese
Butterfly pin. A very cute contrivance - gold & ivory &
mother - o'pearl & enamel. It was bought of Sing Fat & Co,
614 Dupont St, San Francisco,
Cal.
1893.
