by declaring that she wasn't going to the gym - and when I left her I was sure she was - and she would have if it hadn't been for an accident - Mama went off with the key after supper & she had to sit on the stairs all the evening - without gloves - and no callers! Tuesday. Pleasanter. J.W. went to N.Y. Ned & Edith came in this p.m. from Mrs. Wagner's with Ned's new silk waist. They tried to get me to pro- mise to meet them and go to "Mr. X." at the 1st Universalist Church to-night. I didn't promise, however. After sup- per Claude & I decided to go & see John Drew & Maud Adams in "The Marked Ball". I enjoyed it immensely - es- pecially their two parts. A young Dr "Paul" and his wife. There were parts in it that were fairly delicious - but the play
