- a queer conglomeration but well - disposed. I tore it
up. Read "Diana" again. It is lovely.
Claude came in for supper in the
kitchen & we had a prolonged talk - Fair - Chicago - The
stage - Opera - gossip &c. Then I wrote & now I'm going up
stairs to finish my book & ruin my eyes.

Busy day - as J.G. decided to go to
New York to the
Waldorf tomorrow - to spend the week. Ned came up at 5.30 and altho' it rained
some we walked up to Sibley's
& Dake's &c. and she told
me she expected a call from Kirk- patrick - &
then took it back &c. in the usual way - Monday night - beginning
