got gray & looked like rain. People sat on benches & walked slowly & talked as they strolled and children played with rubber balls and it wasn't a bit like the N.Y. outside - where everyone is in such a terrible hurry. I walked all the way up on the West side of the avenue - past Chickering Hall & Yandel's & Guin's & the Mohawk - and many a place whose name was familiar but whose location was not. When I got back it was just two & Ned & I took the car down & Prussells to lunch and had a sandwich & a cup of milk & were back before three - where Lilla met us & we all went up to the Loan Exhibition at the Fine Arts Bldg noticing, on the way, the new Herald bldg - which is lovely - only 2 stories and a mass of carving. It occupies the upper triangle where B'way crosses 6th Avenue. Passed the Carnegie Music Hall & I remembered the building perfectly,
