came up to see me to-day (p.m.) After they had gone Mae Stull came & brought me the sweetest little picture of her self. Gave me my choice of that or a cabinet. She had just gone when Frederica came & before she went Mama & Gertrude came for me & we took the 5:30 train to Charlotte. It was so lovely that we enjoyed the ride - we saw the Sibley yacht (Restless) where Mr. & Mrs. Cutler were, & Mrs. Watson's break-load of youngsters, down for dinner. We took the 6:30 car to Manitou & it was as lovely a ride as ever. Ate lunch there. Walked on the pier and watched a magnificent sunset - golden sky - bright blue lake and a few dark clouds. Took the 8:30 train back & sat on the back platform & watched the dusky landscape. Some people inside had an accordion & sang. Didn't get up home till about 10. Mighty sleepy! Aug. 2. Wednesday Another lovely day. I got a phaeton for Mama & Trude this p.m. and
