After supper talked to Charlie Case awhile, & to Bert Stull, & little Dorothy, who looked sweet all in blue. Finally there was a hush & Bert S. assured us they were coming, as he had counter- manded the order to the hackneys to wait at an alley gate - and John appeared on the stairs - so proud & happy & handsome - and then Mae - fairly radiant & looking bewitching. People clapped & we threw roses (not "tapioca powder" as W.O. said we should) and in a minute they
