across the little bridge by the Victoria House & Albert Memorial (group "America") to the French Building, where we went in & saw some fine ex- hibits - notably an exact reproduction (in wax &c) of a murdered man - his clothes his position - the spot & all & a photograph of the original - showing how true this was. After going thro' there we went into the Massachusetts Building - which is the dearest old Colonial, homey place - with fine old desks, pianos, beds, chairs, & other relics. Then went over to the N.Y. and found that very fine indeed. Met Charella & Edward , & Mrs. Allen & Atkinson there and registered. Went over into the Phila- delphia with Ned & Will Wray (who met us there) & saw the Liberty Bell &c & also met the Cutler's, who greeted me very pleasantly. We went through the Virginia Building - (old Mt. Vernon mansion) and into the Idaho. & then Ned & Will left me temporarily & I met "our crowd" and we all went to the Plaisance - which is a joy! The foreigners, the sedan chairs - and the carriers with their ridiculous trousers - the queer booties & people! - When we got to Cairo St.
