passed the Passoconoway(?) Inn and York

and bicyclists, buckboards and traveling carriages. Then we arrived at

Bradley & I went "shopping" in the Japanese store then
we all went to another place - facing the harbor - where there was a
funny boy who acted as tho' he had false teeth (he was about 10)
& had "vaniller" (as Miss I. calls
it) ice cream. Miss Iles is great
fun. I like her. She's my idea of a "bachelor maid" and a"jolly good
fellow" at the same time most refined & & nice - and can he a
dazzler when she likes - she has lovely old jewelry and cute clothes
and always looks stunning. After ice cream we took a ride past the
big hotel ("Cliff House"?) and to the beach - which is
certainly fine as far as beach goes - like a floor (the tide was
low) and so wide & hard. Some girls were playing croquet there - an
ideal ground, but sunny - the cottages most of them were cheap &
close together- Some nice ones on the Nubble -
York Harbor was pointed out, but hardly
distinguish-
