July 2. Thurs. Another hot day. Gilmore got a Falcon Kodak - real cute. Beachlets was in & we had a nice visit. I rode a little way with Gilmore, coming home & he rode down to Court St. with me. Sat on the steps with Claude, in the "cool of the evening" and then rode down for a pint of ice cream to cool off the family. Later Mary & Alice rode up & while we were sitting on the steps Ned & Flavie Rose appeared. We talked "Stony Lake" a little and then I rode down to Adams St. with them all. Read Century. July 3. Friday

Cyclometer 1700
Cooler today. I find it rather hard work riding in the road all the time. Went up in the Vacuum Oil Office to see Edith & take her a book for her birthday. She began working there Wednesday. Emma MacArthur showed me the offices & the Views - (fine.) I did some other shopping and we got Gilmore & his little brother started off for the Lake - with fireworks & falcons & things. After supper I took one of my pedals to pieces. Claude & I were putting it together again when Mary came for me to go to the lake with her &Alice. So I did. We started at 7:15 and arrived at 8:15. In spite of jolting over that State St. pavement It was a delightful ride. We saw the North King come in & then crossed the ferry and saw Kenneth Jones taking tickets there. We just missed the 8:20 train so had to wait till 10. Ate popcorn & watched people going in the maze &c. &c. Saw
