rode down to Freddie's & sat in the yard with her & Edith & " Cousin Alice", eating caramels & talking. Rode home Main State St. way & walked up to Ned's from Main St. I felt pretty bad about things and I rode around the park a few times before turning in. Read new Harper's, later, Rose Mills, had been here. June 28. Sunday. Pleasant morning, but a wind came on. I fussed, cleaned my wheel &c & got started for the park about 11:30. Ploughed up the hill & away across the meadow under a nice tree (but spidery) & read "A Rebellious Heroine" till it got windier & darker & one could see thunder clouds (if they'd looked) & just as I finished & hustled the magazine into the strap a policeman came along and agreed with me I might have to hurry. The wind and I skurried along together - & I admired the clouds while going. By the time the Rapids were going by me the rain began - by drops - & kept on - but not hard - so by hugging the trees & hurrying I got home almost & between drops. Was quite ready for dinner & a rest afterward. It poured awhile afterward & cleared off quite cold. I got dressed & sat on the steps reading when Edith appeared. She staid an hour or so. Later I went down to Mary's (she wasn't home) & had a visit with Emma & Nellie. Ate bread & butter & onions for supper & staid up too late. June 29. Monday Nice - quite cool. Walked up the hill & stopped for 5 minutes chat with Mary. Felt very badly today
