March. 29 Sunday
A beautiful spring day. Everything melting. The ice gone down the
river and the loads of snow fast disappearing, I did nothing much
but make a few prints and freeze cream before dinner. Mary stopped in after church for a chat
& a suggestion to go to Charlotte's
this p.m. which we did. We walked & I didn't wear a wrap (but
carried one) Everyone ad- mires my green silk waist. We stopped at
Lura's & found Mr. & Mrs. Bert Brower
there. They soon went. Lura has the
bicycle fever. Bessie Smith & Mary
Shepard have just bought 1894 Victorias
for $40. Lura walked up to C's with us. We found them all home -
Enthusiastic about a lovely new house for rent on
"Avondale Park" (!) and about Helen's being summoned to
Yonkers to "meet a Committee". Staid till about
six and rode home. I was used up, fussed with pictures, looked over
N.Y. papers, ate ice cream & then got to bed.
Mch. 30. Monday
Warm & spring like still. It's marvellous how the snow goes,
& the river is rising very fast. I was busy all day tho'
J.W. got home Saturday. Tonight I wrote.
All of us (including Klem) have
answered
Beach's letter I took the little
Post Express
theatre over for the orphans. They played outdoors today!
March 31. Tuesday
The river still rising. A pleasant morning & I walked down with
Claude & took 10 pictures (Gilmore took the
1896.
