ate our lunch on the beach. Such a nice lunch & so much of it. Lura, Matie A. & Miss Hutchinson came down on their wheels & we saw them again over at Charlotte where we spent the evening. It was nicest on the "Esplanade", watching the water. The sunset was beautiful - red as fire. We heard music &c. & saw a sleight of hand performance at the Cattey Pavilion. Met a good many people we knew. We came back (in the W.B. side) about 10:15 and Ned & Freddie under- took to go up & tell Mama, so I went home with Charlotte. Mr.Davis was up waiting for us and we had lunch & went to bed. I slept in Frank's room - as he is at Peekskill camping. July 9. Thursday. It was pouring when I looked out on Cobb's hill this morning, but stopped before breakfast. I sat in Frank's place and Mrs. D. & Chat said funny things as usual. The air was fresh & cool & sweet & clear when we started down town, but it turned out a muggy day, after all. Gilmore didn't come in till the late train but I was busy all day. Walked up with Mary this noon & rode back, in the wind. After supper Ned & I rode over to call on Lilla & Mollie

, who are in town, but missed them - so we went out the Avenue & Culver St. to Charlotte's. Stopped on the
