1896.
plenty of [illegible 3 words] Jefferson had to make a speech in his funny frizzed wig! Frank was waiting for Charlotte as we came out and they walked down the hill with us - It was a gorgeous moonlight night - full moon - Ned & I (I staid with her) un- dressed by moonlight & I went to sleep as soon as the dear girl would let me. May 27. Wed. Got up early & rode "Diana" home to breakfast (I'd kept her there all night) & in fact, rode all day. A little after five I went down to Frederika's St. Paul St way (horrid!) to take her a scrap book. Mae & John came along on their tandem & I had a chat with them & saw Ida & Harry too. On my way home I met, & got off to chat with, Edith & Mary & Emma. Ned came up after supper to get me to go to the park, but I had just refused Claude, & declined. Later, Frank came & I declined again, but Ned went. I washed the dishes & then sewed while Papa (who had just come home) read a Mary Wilkins story aloud. Frank & Ned stopped half an hour on their way back. May 28 Thurs. A windy day - but I rode - except over the hill. After supper I went down to Mary's a few minutes. Found her on Plymouth Ave., with Emma & Nellie, & walked home with them - When I got home (on "Diana") I found Frank Decker here - He came to ride, but I didn't want to in the wind, so he sat on the steps with me till towards 10. He's a nice boy.
