transfer time calling on Charlotte with Mary & buying a small pamphlet edition of "The Rivals". Tonight I cleaned my wheel after supper & then went to bed for an hour. Had just got up & settled down stairs (after 9) when Ned came up for a little while and persuaded me down (in my slippers) to Curtice's for phosphate. Nan
& Will Likely were there. Nan
has just learned to ride. I rode home & wrote a while. Talked to Claude & bed. May 22 Friday Pleasant day. I patronized the street car 4 times Ned came up after supper to get me to go to the park but I was too tired. We sat out an the front piazza & Edith came & we talked a long time. The girls are going to Geneseo over Sunday. While Ned was here Edithtook her wheel and rode down to Mary's. After the girls went I read Harper's. It is quite cool. May 23. Sat. Very pleasant. Rode this a.m. on Diana, but not p.m. Got a new coat & some new waists & a new Harpers &c. Also some prints of last Sunday's photographs, the worst I've taken since Stony Lake. Stopped at Mary's a minute, coming up. After supper Claude & I rode up to the Park, but didn't stay long. He left me at our corner & I got home to find the door locked & no key, so I rode to the Library & got Claude's. Then came back & washed the supper dishes before Mama ar- rived (from seeking wash women) I read some tonight. May 24 Sunday Grandma Shipherd's 93rd birthday & Queen Victoria's 77th. A lovely day, but I was a sleepy - head
