wast postponed - but invited me to Inspection, on Friday - At the
church supper Rose
waited on us & Sam Hamilton's orchestra
played - very well. Everyone went to the lecture afterward & I took
Papa & Mama, as I had Gilmore's tickets. It was the
Yellowstone Park - and the most marvellous
revelations of that region - as all the views were marvelously colored
& in the natural colors. The lecture was poetical & witty by
turns & we all enjoyed it. Still wind & snow, coming home.
J.G. still sick.
Feb. 13. Sat.
Still and sunny & pleasant today - by noon. It was sweeping day
& I staid down to lunch. Went to G. &
M.'s & got Matie and we
went first to Dr. Lasalle's & then to lunch &
then for Valentine's. Matie
has some funny ones.
Matie told me all about how JHG proposed to her once upon a time. I
was quite surprised. She says she never told anyone before - which I
think was the proper thing to do (or not do!) At 5 o'clock I met Mary & we went up to
Lura's & found her sitting up as cosy as
anything - in pink & white & Mrs. Arnold
& Mrs. Baker
"amusing" her. Had a nice call & walked home. This morning (or
last night) the
Davises got word that their aunt Anna
was dead & this morning Mrs.
Davis &
Frank left for
Detroit - where Kate was to meet them. Edith came up awhile tonight.
