(in his new offices) after
dinner. He says I must not ride so much (I suspected it) nor up from
the lake and that my muscular
strength is too much for my vitality & is trying to wear it out.
That's the way I feel - no tired muscles - but general used-up-ed-ness
After supper rode down to Mrs. Craig's for Mama
(Claude with me) We asked for Miss Mills, but she was not in. I came
back & wrote & did
anagrams on "Dunham's shred Cocoanut" for a $500 prize.
Mary was up & brought me a book
to read. We had a little visit on the piazza about 9:30.
June 30. Tuesday
This is one of the day's I'd like to skip from my calendar. Got a
new Messenger saddle (Claude's
Birthday present.) & rode to the park with him after supper. Then
down to Ned's. Rose Mills was there, looking sweet.
July 1. Wed.
Hot, busy day. The new bicycle ordinance - no riding on sidewalks -
went into effect. Rode up with Mary this noon. Met Ned
& didn't get off, wherefore she scolded me over the telephone this
p.m. Got some pretty new dimity for a waist - at
Gorton & McCabe's - & had a
pleasant visit with
Lura & Matie. Mama went to
prayer meeting & I washed the dishes after supper & then (late)
rode down to the dressmaker's & to Mary's - found the girls playing Pedro in the back yard and we had quite a jolly time - A man
came & called -
Alice & Mary walked up to the park with me & I led my wheel,
coming home. Ned was up while I was
gone.
