Feb. 14th Sunday. St. Valentine's day. Pleasant sunny. Took Mama's picture (for Gertrude) today. After dinner Mary & I went up to Davis's - found Helen & Mr. D. home and Charlotte in bed with a headache. We went up in her room and had a nice long visit. Charlotte told her funny ideas for valentines! They can't come Tuesday (their Aunt's funeral is then) so I change the night again. When we got down stairs Mr. D. made us stay for doughnuts &c. and we didn't get home till nearly nine. Feb. 15th Monday. None of "the girls" but me at Gym tonight. Billy O. is in town. After the lesson I lay on the mattrasses a long while and Helen told me (in strict confidence) about her Auntie's will. She left "a few thousand" ($5000, I think) each to Kate, Charlotte & Helen and $2000 each to Frank & Hamilton and $1000 to Mr. Davis & the remainder (including a $10,000 house) to Mrs. D. I am so glad for them. They have to bring home all the furniture &c. & pack up. Feb. 16th Tuesday. No party tonight, after all. I staid home and made more Valentines - quite fun. Stormy. Claude went to N.Y. Feb. 17. Wed. Tonight, after washing the supper dishes, I went (by invitation) down to Edith's to play Pedro. Ned was there and Mary & played against E. & me.
