family picture at the lake
tonight - but I'd promised the Davises to go to South
Park.
J.G. was down early and wrote family
letters all day - the poor - good man - Kept me reading &
writing them for him. At noon I went to Bessie Ives'
wedding in our church with
Mama. She married that delightful
Mr. Henry Dunn of Bradstreet's. Such a pretty
wedding. The church all trimmed with ferns & daisies - white
& yellow - and such
pretty costumes - 6 bridesmaids all in white & pretty big hats -
pink, yellow & red - and a maid of honor & little Betty
Lee a flower girl. The little bride looked very sweet indeed, I thought. & the groom handsome &
happy. I walked up with Charella &
Daisy Swan, after- ward - and then went to
Harned's & had a nice
lunch with Ned & Edith. The wind got very strong this
p.m., but some of us decided to go to the park just the same Rode up
there with Claude, Papa & Mama
& the lunch basket on the car. Soon Helen &
Frank Davis & Ned (& another lunch box) came and we went down to the
nice place where the picnic tables are & spread one & put out our
nice lettuce sandwiches & snaps & cake & cucumber &
olives &c. & had a feast (all so hungry from riding in the wind)
and watched the squirrels. It was a jolly meal and afterwards we
raced - & threw stones in a hole & danced &
1896
Cyclone.
