bicycle. Rode down with Mary, dear, and met Charlotte, dear, as she was getting out of the car. She invited me up to tea tonight. Didn't know Ned was coming, but I told her so! Mama went off with Mrs. Fister (who staid here last night) and to see Miss Harris' house this a.m. so I staid down with Edith & Ned to lunch. Then went over & borrowed Ned's wheel to go home & dress, and called on Charlotte, coming back. She told me we'd have to eat baker's bread tonight - which I telephoned (among other things) to Ned - and much to Mrs. Davis' amusement & consternation when she found it out! Went over in the car (first time across Court St. bridge) & saw Ida & Harry Joiner just arriving from their vacation & Charlie Chichester, coming from the train in white ducks, a white sweater, and black shoes! Alice Jones rode up in the car with me. It was crowded. Frank appeared as I left it and we met Helen & Helen & Mr & Mrs. D. on the piazza. Charlotte came on the next car. We had a jolly supper and not baker's bread - genes

. Afterward Chat tried the new piano for us and I looked at her scrapbook & then we had a nice time on the piazza. They all walked down to the car with us. Sept. 12 Saturday Fine again. I didn't go out to "din-din" and therefore got a half & holiday - as J.G.
