Miss Bruce & Mr.
Degraff were on the ferry - coming toward us - & we
went over to Charlotte & walked
about the deserted walks & watched the new - & thrilling coaster -
&c. Met Ned & Frank Davis. Nobody was down there but
wheelmen. Mary
& I decided to take a car home. The others started ahead &
rode off. We passed them beyond the 2-mile place. Every so many other people wanted to put their
wheels on - but the conductor wouldn't let them (2 is the limit) Mary & I had a real
good time coming up. Got off on State St. &
rode home together. We are invited to Helen
Davis' to tea tomorrow night. She was to come home
tonight. Mary
& I had a nice ride up from the end of East
Avenue to Lura's tonight.
Wheels are fun.
June 4th Thurs.
A fine day. Lots of "ozone" in the air, as Charlotte says. Saw Ned at noon & came up with Mary - who is sort of backing out of
Helen's tea party because she wants
to go to the bicycle mass meeting. I waited for her tonight at 5:30,
but she didn't come, so I rode up alone. When I got to Avondale
Park I decided to go on over Cobb's
Hill
& the The Post Express cinder path - just commenced.
The view is gorgeous all along Highland Ave. and
the path runs under the trees very delightfully. When I got to the
house I found Helen just giving
Ned a description of Duse in
"Magda". Helen looks
& feels very well indeed. Pretty soon
Charlotte
& Lura & Frank came & we had supper in the
new dining room - such a nice one - supper too! We talked and talked and then
1896.
