Apr. 19. Sunday
A warm spring-like morning. Washed the dishes & then sat by the
open dining room window & read.
Claude cleaned his bicycle & then I did
too. The wind came up so it wasn't pleasant to ride.
Mary rode up & spent an hour or so
much me. After dinner Edith came -
very forlorn & lonesome. She spent the afternoon here & we
started for a walk but it sprinkled & we came back. I read aloud from
the "King in Yellow"! It got real cold toward night -
Edith
went home before supper - leaving me very tired.
Apr. 20. Monday
A beautiful bicycling morning - Rode up with Mary at noon
("Bordie" Smith found her for me!) I got home at
night just as it began to rain. Went to Miss
Shelley's for a last try on - My dress is lovely - very stylish
too - Has 9 doz. little buttons on it! After eight I went down to
Mary's & we 4 girls played
Pedro till late - Mary & I got badly beaten by
Emma & Nellie. (Alice some of the time) A delicious spring rain tonight.
Apr. 21. Tuesday
Cool, cloudy today. I managed to ride this pm and a hard thunder
storm came up about 5 or so & I had to leave my wheel. I walked
home with Claude - a rainbow at our backs.
This evening I sewed while Papa read
aloud "Memoirs of a Minister of France" by Stanley
Weyman.
Apr. 22 Wed.
Cool to-day-only 40. Saw some cherry blossoms out down on
Exchange St. This noon I dined at Sibley's with Charlotte & Edith.
