is a kind of a velvet hat pretty girl - not the
kind I admire. We had escalloped oyster & coffee again and I was
terribly
wide awake when we came home - on the 11:30 car - and sat up in
my pleasant "nightie" - bathrobe & bed slippers & eider-down
comforter - reading
Harper's Weekly &c. till one o'clock.
Jan. 8. Friday
A pleasant day. Saw Ned at noon
& tonight took Mary to see Otis Skinner & sweet little
Maud Durbin
(his wife) in "A Soldier of Fortune". We sat in the
front row of the balcony, with
Charlotte & Helen Davis right behind and
Ned & Edith next to them. The play
was very romantic. Skinner very handsome. Maud
Durbinvery bewitching
Sarah Truax beautiful and all very fair. I enjoyed myself
first rate. Walked home with Ned &
Mary. Cold.
Jan. 9. Sat.
Fine bicycling. Took Diana down to be
cleaned. J.G. home again (Thursday p.m)
and nervous. Busy fixing new files &c. Shopped a little tonight.
Read & then bath & bed early - a nice long sleep, for a change.
Jan. 10. Sunday
Blustery. Fine snow blowing around but none on the ground. Spent
most of the morning in the kitchen. Geo
Humphrey
was up. Read "Soldiers of Fortune" by RH
Davis.
