being the nomination of McKinley & Hobart
for Pres. & V. Pres. We went up in Power's Block
& then stood down stairs watching people - horses - bicycles -
torches - transparencies - bands & people again -. About 9 or so I
went home (Nellie went to get her
Mother & I went with her.) Went with Mama to hear George Aldridge serenaded and
walked up with
Mrs. Turpin & Amelie. Read awhile then.
June 19. Friday
Still nice weather - but warmer - but Diana
don't mind. Rushed around - to Ned's
Mary's &
"Rose's" about tickets for tomorrow,
at noon. At 5:30 I thought I'd take a ride - went up East
Avenue (past a lawn party at Perkins')
out Argyle St. to see the
Harris house - which I do like (C.F.B.'s) and then away out to
Brighton village on the Country Club side path
(3 miles from the office!) Got back home - 7 1/4 miles - (without getting
off) about 6:30. After supper cleaned and
washed a silk waist, cleaned my wheel and then rode down to
Mary's.
Mr. Kettle and his wife were there. They are
great fun. He told us funny stories. He's going up in
Canada (& Kirkpatrick) on his
vacation. Asked Mary to go. I rode down to Ned's to see her about tickets. She wasn't there, but
Dr. Durand kept me & talked to me.
When I got home found Ned, Helen Davis & Frank here. They staid till nearly 11. Then I wrote till
nearly 12!
1896.
