Georgia Busby - gotten up - & a young man eating
at the Ontario - heard the music at the cottage - which was nicely
decorated for the 4th & were positively sleepy when the train arrived.
The fare is only 10¢ one way now and they check our wheels. We got
off at Brown St. and had a fine ride home. The
girls came up to
Greig St. with me. Mr.
Page was here. Didn't stay long.
July 4. Sat.
For a wonder, on the Fourth, I didn't wake up till 7 and then went
to sleep again till 8:30. We had a late breakfast & I sewed all the
morning, up in my room, did lots off odd jobs I've been
accumulating. About dinner time it began to pour and continued off &
on the rest of the day. The Orphans & the Behns continued their firecrackers, nevertheless. About
three I got ready & went down to Edith's stopping at Mary's a minute - she had gone to the
matinee. Ned
was at Edith's & they were
anxious I should stay to supper. We sat up stairs while Ned finish- ed dressing. Edith gave me her picture taken with
Henry
&
Donald. Then
we went up to
Elsie's & saw the children - who are
very cute. "Harry
" talks about himself in the third person all the
while & Donald
has a
radiant smile.
Elsie gave us some delicious sherbet
& cake & we staid half an hour or so. Then we came back
& I started immediately for Charella's.
Rode up in the car with Mr.
Tappan. There were the queerest
people waiting about the
1896.
