Went to the Lyceum for tickets and (got a new hat &c) Ned came up for me tonight - & Edith for her. I stopped & got a blue-gray skirt for which I pay Ned $2.00! Spent evening sewing & reading home. Papa read aloud, too. (Got a new hat) Jan. 6. Wed.

Sunday, with skurries of snow. JW's wedding day. We sent him a telegram "Congratulations, best wishes and welcome to the new silent partner." I went to Dr. Scranton's & made an appointment for dentistry. He was pulling deaf-mute's teeth - Such cries! Tonight I staid home and read &c. Jan. 7. Thurs. Cold & clear. Mary stopped for me tonight & we stopped for Lura & all went up to Matie's to supper. She showed us her new waists - made - & before we came down stairs Lura began to cry & wanted to go home. Mary & I came down stairs, & Matie persuaded her & we had a very nice beefsteak-stewed potatoe & coffee supper. Ray
went to the theatre & we had a talk in the sitting room and then Mrs. Baker & Dr. Ewers came & later Mr. Degraff - his cousin, Miss Spencer. We played "Stop" and had quite a jolly time. I lost, first, & had to borrow of the bank 3 times, but was 47 ahead,
