It was a gorgeous morning - sunshiney. Re-dressed, wrote, figured, &c.&c. till dinner. Then I stopped for Mary and we went over to Lura's on our wheels. Chatted with her and her mother and finally - after three - we started for the Lake - found it pretty windy going west, but left the Driving Park Ave. bridge at 3:45 and arrived at the lake about 4:30 after a very delightful ride thro' the west Seneca park & down the under path - a man with a bicycle-face fell off just after he passed me, near the toll gates, and we passed so many priests between the seminary & the cemetery. It was a lovely afternoon - and in spite of the late sun- shine the old lake looked gray & Novembery. We sat on the sand and watched it - a long time then got hot popcorn to sooth ourselves with (sooth!) and finally reluctantly took the 5:45 train in. I spent the evening reading about yesterday's great Sound Money demonstration in N.Y. Arno's 19th birthday. Nov. 2. Monday

Stopped to see Rose to-night. Got a letter from Ned this morning. Rose gave me a copy of a lovely little poem "In Grass Land" she had written and had accepted by the "Youth's Companion" with a letter asking for more & a check! This even-
