Aug. 20 Thurs. A lovely, bright day. Met my old Frank on State st and we had a chat. I wish he wouldn't wax his mustaches so. I wish he'd shave 'em off - for he has a very pretty curve to his lips! This afternoon we witnessed a bicycle accident from the office window - or rather the results. Old man - crowd doctor - broken elbow - ambulance &c. Read a little and went to bed early. Aug. 21. Friday Cooler and pleasant. Got my stunning new blue & white silk waist and wore it to the Wilburs tonight. A whole crowd of us went. I sat between Helen and Charlotte Davis and Lura next to say "Now don't he look handsome?" I like him now. "What a stunning new costume he has." &c. &c. and the object still so common-place, conceited and ultra-dramatic in my eyes! Such is love(!) Amber Smith & 2 other girls with 3 men (one of them Barnes of the Pope Co.) were in a box. The house was full. We came out before the living pictures and afterwards I ascertained it was to observe "Clark". We stood in the shadow of a doorway "waiting for a car" and saw the Objects pass, one by one, but "He" was in the Congress Hall stage. Warren Fisk passed too - walked up with Nellie & Alice.
