Behns over at Arnold which
Meta took- I suppose in the
Easter vacation. We had a late dinner & a good one
(roast lamb - lettuce salad - asparagus - fresh bread - tea -
potatoes - pies - &c.&c.) I washed the dishes & late in the
p.m. went to Ned's found her lonely
& much broken up about my going down East for vacation. She
wants me to go with her, as we have done so long. It's sweet of her, &
I confess I'd like to - but can I withstand the luring sea - which I
know I shall love. We sat & talked together
till after nine when she lit the gas for me to put my hat on to go
home. I had only gotten to the corner when Mary & Miss Scott
overtook me - on their way home from church. We saw Miss
S. home & then came up together. Mary wants to go with me too(!) They say
Mr. Booth is coming in June. I found the family
just finishing lunch & I ate too. Frank

had been here to ride to the park & had staid & visited with
Mama an hour. He has a new
wheel - a Tribune - & is as enthusiastic over things as
ever. Mama told him everything that
had happened to me & my wheel, evidently. I sat up late -
Altogether too late - at the
N.Y. papers &c. went to bed used up.
