little "Phroso" and a delicious letter from Chollie Iles - in which she says I'm a
"clean out & outer" and tells me the name of her lover. Mr.
Steere. Got away on my wheel at 4, stopping at
Hovey's. Staid in Freddie's yard, with her & Ida
&c. while Edith cleaned Ned's wheel and then we rode down to Charlotte on the wider path this side -
a delightful ride in the late afternoon. Went into & out of
Riverside cemetery (didn't get
off) "North King" - on which we expected the girls from
Canada - wasn't in sight - some went & had phosphate - we
saluted by a passing yacht and sat on the pier watching the North King -
now in sight - approaching. Then got down to the river dock just in
time to welcome her - but no girls - only
Mr. Mac A., Ida & Nellie, who
went over to meet them & met them not for they did not come!
Rode back "sunrising". Got off, with wheels, at Brown
St. and rode up home to iced tea & vanilla wafers
& gossip (?) on the front steps. Then rode down, with Edith to MacArthur's and found
