1896.
ing I went to the "gym" (Stopping at Mary's a minute) We had a real good time. I beat them all in a running game we had and we did some new things. Walked over with Rose (& Edith partway) and then rode. Nov. 3. Tuesday. A beautiful - almost perfect-day - and election day. Did not stay long at the office. Shopped a little and called at Mary's for a nice chat. Cleaned my wheel with Arno's help - and finally - about quarter of 3 - Claude came and we started for Scottsville - where we arrived about 4. After (or 4:15) stopping for photographs (the first was Claude on the ridge) &c we passed Arno near Genesee Junct. and there snapped live stock (3 kinds) and had some delicious cider and some gum! Then we left him - and zipped along - the path wide enough to ride abreast in many places. Even Claude admitted it was delightful. The thin sunshine - the smoky smell - the purplish haze - the reflections in the water beside us and the "pretty day". We passed various people we knew. Mr. McLaughlin, Mr. Parker & a party - the Count & Countess Quarrel de Quarrels Clark Southard & Effie LaTrace. The Artist & Forbes & Geo. Ellwanger, who dismounted near us - by the lock where we stopped for winey apples and another photograph. At the top of the long hill (we walked part way up.) We found Meta - Miss Boughton - & Theo - most characteristically "fixey"
