went up to Highland Park. The first time this year for me. The valley did look beautiful. When we had absorbed the view we went down along the high edge of the shrub garden and sat on the ground under a tree, facing the Valley & I read a story from Scribner's aloud. Later we strolled down through, back of the pretty little cottage of the gardener and into new Goodman St. Extension & so exploring down to the South Clinton St. car at last. After supper &c. Ned & Edith came, rather late. Ned with more pictures. Which we discussed and enjoyed and Edith with apologies for keeping Diana & the news that she had moved to Elsie's

for good. Aug. 30. Sunday Got up betimes to find a lovely morning. Started off on Diana after breakfast and stopped at Mary's & Ned's & we all went over to Charlotte's by appointment, to explore the Post Express bicycle path. Found a rather strong south wind, so decided to start North! Mrs. Davis took me out to see the sunflowers, and Frank & I photographed groups in the backyard. Finally we started (about 10:35) and had a fine spin down Culver St. for several miles (to the end) The Path is very good - especially
