stay, but I came back - to receive Ned & Edith in about 10 minutes. They implored me to go riding with them & to go "down to 87" &c, but I resisted. Read awhile - then supper & bed June 1. Monday. Such a busy day. The first of the month Monday - & Gilmore away J.W. going tomorrow! No time to think hardly. Rents coming in - cash - checks - 4 or 5 proposals to make &c &c. I did manage to shop a little and walked up Troup St. with Ned at noon. After supper Claude & I rode out to Sunset Seat in the park & saw the sun set in a perfectly clear sky. Then a cool breeze blew on us & we came away. Met Ned & turned around for a little chat on the river bench. Saw Gordon & his wife and coming out we met Nellie & Alice MacArthur & later Lura. Ned didn't come home with me & sewed & ripped & Papa read aloud - Some headache. June 2. Tuesday. A gloriously goregeous day - a little cool, but fine for riding. I rode much. The longest way home thro' Gibbs & Lancaster &c and tonight after supper Mary, Alice & I rode right up Main St. & East Ave. to Alexander & thro' that to Mabel Rogers'.
