It's surprising how comfortably (comparatively) we managed it. Ned stopped now & then to fix her hat & we rested again on the boulevard hill. Up on State St. she made a grab for her hat & ran into me & we both went off. It was quite thrilling, but no serious damages. The picture I took of her & Frank shows her position in the wind. When we got to Main St. Frank insisted on our having phosphate & then left us. Ned came up to dinner & we cleaned up extensively and then ate it. Quite a delicious one. Edithcame soon afterward - obviously to see Ned - and we sat out in the back yard - hammock & all & talked &c. E. was very blue when she came but better later, I'm glad to say - She & Ned left together about dark - I read - ate onions & bread & butter for lunch and then went to bed about 8:30. Ned took my picture too. Monday. May 11th

A lovely day. Met Ned at Thompson's at 5:30 & he got a tool bag &c. & we rode back to- gether. After supper I went down to Mary's & had a little visit. Then we rode up to the park & sat one the "sunset seat". The mosquitoes were pretty thick. Ned & Miss Hall came along soon afterward & we talked a few minutes, when Mary & I went on (around the circle). Mary sang "Starlight" to me. I went home with her & we had things to drink in the kitchen, or rather the dining room. She lent me "La Tosca" and I came home & read it. Don't think much of it.
