Sat with the Gilmores. The lecture was fine and the pictures much finer. One felt the enthusiasm of the time and laughed at the fun of the Americans- teaching the Greeks college yells ("war cup") posing as Greek statues (in modern dress) &c. &c. I enjoyed it & some of the pictures on the Acropolis. ("Deadhead hill") were simply real - & very beautiful. Walked home - a very slippery way. Feb.9. Tuesday Sending out "Details of M.I.P's" today. J.G. was down only a little while & went home sick with a cold. An Tonight we went to see Lackeye &c. in "Dr. Belgraff." - Helen, Charlotte, Matie, Mary and I - and Ned - who decided late - sat behind us. The play was a hideous hypnotic thing - extremely well acted and also well staged - but grewsome. We all felt rather done up after it and Mary felt really cheated. She said she never came so near fainting as in a certain part at the end of the 2nd act - where a murder is committed in the dark. Forrest Robin- son - Mr. Stowell's friend, was in it.
