for all "opal" for Mary's ring and into Bertha Bing's and the French place. It came off beautifully clear. "Gym" tonight Ned & I both came early to "practice" throwing the ball in the basket. Rose & Edith were not there. Nellie Chace walked home with us & up to Troup St. with me - "byked" worked on Charlotte's pillow. Sore throat today. Dec. 15 Tuesday Had a horrid cold today. Staid down & dined at Sibley's with Mary, Ned & Edith Didn't accomplish much until after I'd been back to the office & come out again. Mr. & Mrs. Ed Allen called tonight & spent an hour or more. Dec. 16 Wed. Raw day & I'm sick with a cold. Matie A. sent me some medicine by Lura - spent the evening finishing C's pillow & making a doll - ballet-girl to match "Columbine"

- for the tree! Dec. 17 Thurs. A beautiful day. Staid home this a.m. & read the last half of the "Light that Failed". The other ending - where Dick gets shot. It's a terribly delightful book - acutely pathetic too. I went down town after dinner - shop some everyday. Left the office again about 4:30 or so - shopped again & went to gym - where I saw the Thursday p.m. class & interviewed Helen. After supper sorted photographs & dressed & "byked" down to gymnasium for the Match Game. Ned had ever so much company - Klem & Martha & Mrs. Davis & Chat & Mary & Emma. Had 12 in class, too, besides Miss Chace.
