the car (which came, luckily). A little brighter at noon but walks
still bad. The boys are all busy getting the draughting room ready
to move. Tonight it had cleared off. Ned had
a "chafing dish party", Edith, Mae, John,
Frank Davis, Claude & I. (Claude
didn't come till late.) We sat and talked in the "parlor" a while
and then went in Ned's room so John
could smoke & she began on the chafing dish. John read sonnets aloud & then love
letters to himself. He said the "Throbbed". We had a very nice supper -
chicken & sweet bread croquettes, coffee, rolled bread &
butter, olives and "HP" toast - Sat a long time at table & went home
rather late - to dream dreams.
Mch. 21. Sat.
A bright nice day. Snow everywhere & white & clean this this
morning, but beginning to melt. Morning day at the office - the
draughting & stock rooms went and many things from our offices, but we
don't go till Tuesday. I packed J.G's books & things after dinner.
Mary came up for 10 minutes chat.
She still has a bad cold. About 4. p.m. we all (J.W.Gilmore, Miss
R. & I) went up to the new offices & tried to
settle a little. I went up into the blueprint room & on the roof
with Gilmore. Came home awfully
tired and late. Didn't do much this evening.
Mch. 22 SundayMother's 36th wedding anniversary. I gave
her a new umbrella, & Papa
"Merchant of Venice".
